It’s the fashion event of the year for little prima ballerinas – the November 21 launch of the latest Designers for Target collection in childrenswear – Collette Dinnigan for The Australian Ballet at Target.

The collection is a gift from Dinnigan to the Australian Ballet, with 10% of every sale going to support their education programs.

From our sneak preview of the collection, everyone involved deserves to take a bow. Dinnigan’s signature style shines through in the range of vintage-inspired tutus, wraps, bounce skirts and tops in dusty rose, lilac, powder blue and white.

Available in sizes 3 to 8, every piece is a confection of romantic delight, with enchanting detail and deliciously soft fabrics lifting them heads and shoulders above your everyday party frock. It’s hard to pick a favourite, but the Tulle Cheesecloth Ballet Dress paired with the Sequin Bolero is a definite showstopper.

The overall quality is something you frankly expect from Dinnigan and don’t from Target, which makes the collection so remarkable. And with prices amazingly affordable – ranging from $19 to $59 – they’re guaranteed to make little girls everywhere dance for joy.

Mark the date – November 21 – the collection will be released in 100 Target stores nationwide and online at target.com.au

Hmmm...

Not sure how to incorporate kink into the outfit. it's very simple. black a-line skirt that hits just above my knees, white angora sweater, dark burgundy patent leather ballet flats, jade bracelet. oh and a little lock on the skirt clasp. a lock from a collar. I suppose perhaps that can count although it's tucked away so he's not likely to see it.
I'm not really freaking out, just butterflies in the tummy.
: )

How structured?

Where my (adult) daughter takes ballet, there are different colored leos for different ages, even for the 3-year olds who take "creative movement," not actually ballet. It's a formal studio.
However, she also teaches pre-ballet for different levels for Parks and Rec, and there is no standard outfit. Most of her little dancers come with a tights/leo/skirt combo that they picked up at any store. Some even come with long tulle skirts!
So, I guess the answer is, check with the teacher or studio, and plan to be flexible.

Feminine goth

Hey Cinjin I was wondering if you could toss a few ideas my way. I have friends with a 2yo little girl and they are goth. They are always asking me to make thier girl clothes because it is almost impossible to find any for her that they like. I made an outfit for her last year that was so cute. It was just a pair of leggings out of fishnet and a full short ballet style skirt with a tank tot style shirt all black with an caution orange trim. They loved it but have been asking me to make her more stuff and goth is not my area. If you have any ideas I would really appriciate it and I know they would too
